Strong Finish to the NEYDL Track and Field Season

Well done to all of our athletes who took part in the final North East Youth Development League (NEYDL) Track and Field fixture of the summer at Shildon on 19 July 2026.

Representing Blaydon Harriers were Aaron, Rachel, Calyse, Lewis, Daniel, Abbie, Abigail and Violet, all of whom performed brilliantly throughout the day and should be incredibly proud of their efforts.

The final fixture delivered everything that youth athletics is about, with personal bests, exciting finishes and noticeable improvements in technique across a range of events. It was fantastic to see the athletes putting their training into practice and continuing to develop throughout the season.

The NEYDL provides young athletes with invaluable opportunities to gain competition experience, challenge themselves and contribute to their team, and our athletes did exactly that. Whether competing on the track or in the field, every performance played a part in bringing a successful season to a close.

A special thank you goes to all the parents for their continued support throughout the season, and to Derek and Doreen for getting stuck in and helping on the day. The league simply couldn't run without the dedication of volunteers and supporters behind the scenes.

It was a lovely day and a fitting end to another great summer of youth athletics.
