Sunday’s final NEYDL fixture at Whitley Bay brought the curtain down on an exciting summer of athletics for our joint Blaydon, Gosforth and Wallsend team, and what a day it was.

Despite forecasts of rain and storms, we were treated to sunshine all day long. The Blaydon tent, packed just in case, ended up providing some much-needed shade instead of shelter.

Our young athletes gave it everything once again, with brilliant personal bests, podium finishes, and plenty of determination on display. Their hard work and team spirit have been a highlight of the season.

It’s been just as special seeing the smiles on parents’ faces and the pride in every cheer. Thank you to everyone who made this season possible, from the athletes and parents to the volunteers and supporters. We couldn’t do it without you.

Enjoy a well-earned summer break, and we’ll see you all again soon. The cross country season kicks off at the end of September, and we can’t wait to get stuck in.
