This weekend was the Northern Indoor Championships, and it was a successful weekend for the Blaydon athletes who made the trip to Sheffield.
Day 1 Aaron Lillistone ran a PB of 8.98s in the U17M 60m hurdles to qualify for the final and then further lowered it to 8.94s to take the silver medal.
Sam Gorman improved his PBs in pole vault and shot to 3m50 and 10m72 in the U20M. Rebecca Thorpe extended her triple jump PB to 11m22 in the U20W competition, just missing out on a bronze medal by 1cm.
Day 2 Jason Archer kicked us off in the U17M high jump, clearing 1m65 and narrowly missing his PB in his first Northern competition. Sam returned for day 2 starting with the 200m heat in which he ran a PB of 23.31s to qualify for the semi-final and then accidentally qualified for the final held during his long jump comp! This left him pretty tired, but he still managed to take the bronze medal.
Tom Rutherford contested a very tactical heat in the U20M 800m crossing the line in an indoor PB of 2m07.
