Sunday 18 May 2025 saw our young athletes take on the second North East Youth Development League (NEYDL) fixture at a blustery and bitterly cold Whitley Bay. From the moment they arrived, our team showed exactly what they’re made of, steely determination, brilliant teamwork, and a whole lot of heart.

Nineteen Blaydon athletes competed on the day, teaming up once again with Gosforth and Wallsend. The partnership between the clubs continues to grow, and it's been fantastic to watch friendships and team spirit develop with every fixture.

Despite the tough conditions, our juniors delivered impressive performances across the board. There were personal bests to celebrate, podium finishes to cheer for, and some truly gutsy efforts, particularly from those making their debut in track and field competition.

The energy around the team was something special: constant encouragement, shared laughter, and genuine joy in each other’s achievements. That sense of support and togetherness is what makes days like this so memorable.

Massive thanks to Robb Young and Mel Graham for their support throughout the day, you were brilliant. A big shoutout as well to all the parents who stood trackside, offered encouragement, and captured great photos. Most of all, thank you to the athletes, you made us proud.

We’re already looking forward to the next meet on Sunday 22 June. Let’s keep building, keep supporting, and keep enjoying the journey.

Go Blaydon!
