Cross Country Meeting Tanfield

Saturday 26th September saw the opening fixture of the North Eastern Harrier League at an excellent course at Tanfield.

Five u/11s lined up for the first race of the day, Alex Wallace, Will Batey, Olivia McCormick, Ruby Edwards and James Leith. Alex, Olivia and Ruby making their debut for the club.

Aiden Dixon was our only competitor in the u/13 boys. Our u/13 girls team of Abbie Lewis, Brenna Orr, Emily Walters and Freya Kirtley all ran from the fast pack.

A good turn out in the u/15 boys, Jack Boaden having his first start in this competition led them home in 7th place, and gets himself promoted to the fast pack, closely followed by Daniel Buffham, Luke Shears, Tom Rutherford and Robbie Parkin. Robbie out of the fast pack. The ever reliable trio off Innes Orr, Georgia Briggs and Rachael Curry, were our u/15 girls team, Innes and Georgia fast packers.

Senior women, Lisa Walsh, Jo Edwards, Marie Bottomley, Jeanne Brown and Kirsten McCormick, did us proud again. I think only Jeanne has run in the harrier league before so, Jo, Lisa, Marie and Kirsten, first timers, hope to have many more.

Senior men Alex Muir, finishing an excellent 44th, will go up a pack, then Matthew Alderson who flew around from the medium pack, may also be promoted to the fast pack. Micheal Pitt making his debut in the harrier league, Alan Armstrong running from the medium pack and Eric Lewis who just made it to the start.

The North East Harrier League is a well organised, top quality local event. The next meet is at Temple Park, South Shields on 10th October.
