On Sunday 8 March, Blaydon Harriers Juniors took part in the 9th Birtley AC Junior Cross Country Relays, held at Lord Lawson on the same well‑tested course as previous years. The event brought together young athletes from across the region, with relay races for age groups U11 through to U20, making it a fantastic celebration of junior cross country running.
This year’s event also carried extra significance, as the relays incorporated the NECAA Junior Cross Country Relay Championships, adding an extra competitive edge and making it a valuable championship experience for our athletes.
Our runners put in a fantastic effort throughout the day, showing great determination, teamwork and club spirit across all age groups. It was brilliant to see so many juniors lining up, supporting one another, and proudly representing Blaydon Harriers in a challenging but enjoyable team format.
A huge thank you to all the parents and families who came along to support, encourage and help out on the day – your contribution makes a real difference and helps create such a positive race‑day atmosphere.
Well done to everyone who took part. It’s great to see so many of our junior athletes getting involved, racing as a team and gaining valuable experience in one of the key cross country fixtures of the season. We look forward to building on this as we head into the rest of the year.
