Congratulations to Barry Champion and Sarah Batsford, who took on the challenge of the Northumberland Coastal Run on 26 July 2026, organised by Alnwick Harriers.
Widely regarded as one of the most scenic and demanding races in the North East, the event follows an approximately 14-mile route from Beadnell Harbour to Alnmouth Estuary, taking runners through the stunning Northumberland coastline and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Along the way, participants tackle a challenging mixture of sand, trails and road, passing landmarks including Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster, Howick Sands and Boulmer.
The Northumberland Coastal Run has earned a reputation as a race that tests both strength and endurance, with long stretches of beach running and varied terrain providing a very different challenge from a traditional road race.
Barry and Sarah both put in tremendous efforts to conquer the demanding course and represent Blaydon Harriers along one of the country's most beautiful stretches of coastline.
