Blaydon Harrier Hannah Waterhouse took on a major milestone at the Thirsk 10 on Sunday 22 March 2026, lining up for the longest race of her running career to date.
Still competing in the U20 age group, Hannah stepped up to the 10‑mile distance with confidence and determination, tackling a well‑established and popular road race organised by Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers. The Thirsk 10 is known for its fast, scenic route and strong fields, making it a great test of both endurance and mental strength.
Running a new longest distance is always a challenge, and Hannah approached it brilliantly, managing the step up in mileage and gaining invaluable experience along the way. Races like this play an important role in an athlete’s development, helping to build strength, resilience and confidence for future events.
Well done to Hannah on a fantastic run and a great achievement. It’s brilliant to see our young athletes stepping up to new challenges and representing Blaydon Harriers with such commitment and ambition.
