The Blaydon Race 2026 Ballot Is Now Open!

The wait is over. The ballot for the 2026 Start Fitness Blaydon Race is now officially open, and it’s time to get your name in the hat for one of the North East’s most iconic events. Runners can now enter through the Blaydon Race website, with the ballot closing on 11 February at 10:00.

This year marks the 44th running of the race, bringing thousands of runners together to celebrate its famous route, rich heritage and unbeatable Geordie atmosphere. Whether you're chasing a time, running for fun or soaking up the tradition of “gannin’ along the Scotswood Road”, the Blaydon Race is a standout event in the local running calendar.

If you plan to enter, don’t leave it too late. Head to the official registration page and submit your name before the ballot closes.

We always look forward to seeing our members take part in the Blaydon Race, it's a brilliant event filled with energy, music, tradition and real community spirit. This year, while we would love to see plenty of black and amber vests on the start line, we also need many of our members to step forward as volunteers. The race is entirely organised by Blaydon Harriers, and it simply cannot happen without the support, time and teamwork of our club community.
