Our most recent parkrun social took us to the ever‑popular Jesmond Dene parkrun on Saturday 2 May, where a good turnout of Blaydon Harriers enjoyed a scenic run through one of Newcastle’s most iconic green spaces.

Jesmond Dene’s undulating paths and wooded surroundings provided a great mix of challenge and atmosphere, and it was brilliant to see Bees of all ages and paces coming together. As always, the focus was as much on the social side as the running itself, with plenty of encouragement around the course and time to catch up afterwards.

Following the run, many headed over to the food market at Armstrong Bridge, which proved a popular choice for post‑parkrun refuelling. Good food, good weather, and good company made for a relaxed and enjoyable way to round off the morning.

Blaydon Harriers were also represented at Parkrun further afield. With Steph and Lily Ashall taking part in Dalby Forest parkrun, enjoying the trail‑based course set in stunning woodland surroundings. Meanwhile, Andrea Clarke took parkrun tourism international, completing Zuiderpark parkrun in the Netherlands and ticking off the elusive Z in the parkrun A–Z challenge.

With recent socials at Gateshead, Denton Dene, and now Jesmond Dene, it has been great to see so many members getting involved and embracing the variety parkrun has to offer. Keep an eye out for details of the next parkrun social, and whether local or further afield, we hope to see you there.
