Well Done to our junior athletes who came out victorious winning Division 1 of the NEYDL after a tough battle with 2nd placed Morpeth Harriers.
Sunday 20th July saw the last meeting of the season at Clairville Stadium in Middlesborough. Morpeth conceded the trophy to Blaydon late in the day when it was announced they were leading in the last meeting by just half a point which meant at least around 130 points were needed to catch Blaydon. It became obvious with just a few events to go that this was unattainable so sportingly the Morpeth team manager presented the trophy to Simon, our club sprint coach and boys team manager.
A huge thank you to all our junior athletes who took part in all or any of the four NEYDL Division 1 meetings this year. Your commitment and determination is inspiring and much appreciated by your coaches, fellow athletes and parents. Credit should also be given to those of you who showed great resilience by turning out to compete even after niggling injuries throughout the season. Also, a special mention to Ryan Ransome who surprised everyone by attending on Sunday with a broken ankle and gaining valuable points in field events.
We look forward to next years competition and more success in 2015!!
