New Bob Houston Memorial Trophy Introduced for the Blaydon Race

The Blaydon Race is proud to introduce the Bob Houston Memorial Trophy, as we continue to honour the memory and legacy of our former Club President and long-standing Race Organiser, Bob Houston.

Bob's contribution to both Blaydon Harriers and the Blaydon Race was immense, and this new trophy provides a fitting way to recognise his dedication to the event and the running community he helped to build.

As part of this year's race, we're also delighted to unveil a brand new prize category, the first new addition to the prize structure in 10 years: Me and Wor Partner.

Long-time Blaydon Race participants may recognise the inspiration behind the award. The category is a modern reimagining of a much-loved prize from years gone by, bringing a touch of Blaydon Race tradition to a new generation of runners.

The introduction of the Bob Houston Memorial Trophy and the Me and Wor Partner prize category reflects our commitment to celebrating both the history and the future of this iconic event.

With the addition of these new prizes, the Blaydon Race now boasts an incredible £7,000 prize pot in cash, alongside £3,000 in vouchers, making it one of the most rewarding road races in the region.
