What a fantastic day for Blaydon Harriers at the NECAA Indoor Track Championships on 15 March 2026, with an especially strong showing in the 60m sprint events.
Huge congratulations to Abby, Avoria, Violet, Ethan, Abigail and Madison, who all ran superbly and came away with new personal bests. Seeing so many PBs on the day was a real testament to their hard work, focus and determination.
A special mention goes to Avoria, who produced an outstanding performance to claim silver overall, a brilliant achievement in a highly competitive field. Well done also to Violet, who progressed from the heats to the semi‑finals and into the final, finishing an excellent 5th overall.
There were some particularly proud moments as Abby and Ethan competed in their first ever track event. Stepping onto the track for the first time can be intimidating, especially when you are among the youngest in the field, but both handled it with confidence and maturity. Abby progressed through the heats to reach the semi‑finals and should be incredibly proud of her performance.
It was also fantastic to see Madison and Abigail competing confidently in a new age category, which can be daunting in itself. Both rose to the challenge brilliantly, with Abigail making it through the heats and into the semi‑finals.
The day was filled with great energy, strong performances and superb support from parents and teammates alike. It was a wonderful example of athletes encouraging one another and representing the club with pride.
We are truly made of strong stuff at Blaydon, a fantastic day of athletics and a reminder of just how special our young athletes are. Well done to everyone involved.
