Club 5K Handicap, 20 August 2026
Conditions could hardly have been better for the Club 5K Handicap, and members made the most of them with an evening of impressive performances, personal bests and plenty of encouragement around the course.
With ideal running weather and a strong turnout, several runners produced outstanding times, including some well-deserved PBs. The handicap format once again provided a competitive and enjoyable event for runners of all abilities, with everyone chasing down those ahead and holding off those behind.
It was also fantastic to welcome Katie and Delphine to their first Club 5K Handicap. Both runners exceeded their targets and showed exactly what can be achieved with commitment and determination. We hope it is the first of many club races for both of them.
Our junior athletes continue to impress as well. Hannah and Rachel both demonstrated significant improvements, highlighting the progress that comes from regular training and consistency. It is encouraging to see the next generation developing so strongly and enjoying their running.
A huge thank you goes to our volunteers Isaac, Emma L, Emma D, Michael, Paddy and Delphine for helping to set up and support the event. Club activities simply would not be possible without the time and effort given by volunteers.
As always, a special mention goes to Alison for the post-race cookies and watermelon, which were very much appreciated by everyone after their efforts.
Well done to all who took part and contributed to another successful Club 5K Handicap. We look forward to doing it all again at the next race on 29 October.
