Second Harrier League fixture at Druridge Bay.
A very sunny and warm day, unusual cross country weather. Blaydon had 42 excellent athletes competing. As usual the U11 boys was the first event, led home in 8th place by Max Murray followed by Lewis Watson in his first start for Blaydon, Robert Atkinson and Tom Wallace.
Hazel Richardson competed in the U11 girls and Grace Johnson ran in the U13 girls. For the U13 boys, Jude Reid finished 11th and is promoted to the fast pack, followed by Will Collinson, who ran from the fast pack, Tom Burnett, Alex Wallace, Joseph Lonergan (also a fast packer) and James Leith. An excellent U15 girls team was led home by Jessica Levy in 6th place and will be promoted to the fast pack, followed by Cecilia Reid, Emma Burnett, Fran Reccia and Abbie Lewis. Both Cecilia and Abbie were from the fast pack. Superb U17 men’s team of Daniel Buffham, 3rd place and is promoted to the fast pack, Luke Shears and Jack Boaden took the team prize. Senior ladies and senior men go from strength to strength. Ladies were led home by Claire Collinson, just missing out on promotion to the medium pack by one place, then super coach Liane Brown, Joanne Ramshaw making her second debut for the club and Izzy Jackson were the first team counters, then came Clare (Al) Bowley, Jo Edwards, Kat Nicholson, Doreen Craig, Julie Leath, Nicola Dodds and Tracey Bowers. Senior men kept up their aim for promotion with excellent performances. First home was debutante David Garner in 34th place and will be promoted to the medium pack, then came Isaac Dunne running from the medium pack, James Ramshaw, James Dias again from the medium pack, Jamie Boswell, Liam Friel, Lee Pattinson, Eric Lewis, John Kain, Phillip Jobson and Carl Brown.
