Blaydon Harriers were proud to be part of the inaugural Andrew Callcott Memorial Relay Race on 16 July, hosted by Derwent Valley Running Club, and what a fantastic evening it proved to be.

The event brought together clubs from across the region for a competitive and enjoyable night of relay racing, while also celebrating the memory of Andrew Callcott and raising money for charity.

There were some excellent performances throughout the evening, with the team competition proving closely contested. Congratulations to the podium finishers:

🥇 Derwent Valley Running Club

🥈 Elswick Harriers

🥉 Derwent Valley Trail Runners

Blaydon Harriers also had individual success, with Kevin Findlay recording the fastest male leg of the evening, a superb achievement against a strong field of runners.

Beyond the racing, the evening was a wonderful celebration of local running and community spirit. Clubs came together to enjoy the friendly competition, support one another and remember Andrew Callcott through an event that will hopefully become a fixture on the local racing calendar.

Adding to the success of the evening, the event raffle raised an impressive £140 for Smile For Life, helping to support an important charitable cause.

A huge thank you to everyone at Derwent Valley Running Club for organising such a successful event, and congratulations to everyone who took part.
