Blaydon Harrier & AC AGM, 28 September 2026
Members gathered at Tyne Amateur Rowing Club on 28 September 2026 for the Blaydon Harrier & AC Annual General Meeting, where reports on the Club's activities, finances and membership were presented, alongside several important decisions for the future of the Club.
The meeting approved the re-election of the existing Committee, with thanks recorded to retiring Committee members Emma Dunn and Robb Young for their contribution and service to the Club.
The Club currently has a strong senior section and growing demand across the junior groups. The Committee reported that recent coaching developments should allow additional junior places to be opened, helping reduce waiting lists and support future growth.
Members also heard updates on the Club's continuing work with GLL to improve facilities and strengthen access to training opportunities.
Members approved the membership fees for the 2027/28 membership year. The only change is to the Under 11 membership fee, which increases from £40 to £59 to reflect the introduction of England Athletics affiliation fees for this age group.
Members voted to approve the proposal for the Club to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The change will create a separate legal entity for the Club, strengthen governance arrangements and provide trustees with greater legal protection. The Committee will now begin the process of incorporation, with the aim of completing the transition before the 2027 Blaydon Race.
Following discussion, members also approved the principle of a new Blaydon Race Club Entry Ballot Policy for implementation from the 2027 race. The policy is intended to recognise and encourage volunteering. During the discussion, members raised a number of constructive suggestions, which will be considered as the Committee develops the detailed arrangements ahead of the 2027 race.
The AGM concluded with thanks to the Committee, coaches, officials, volunteers and members whose efforts continue to make Blaydon Harriers a successful and thriving club.
The Committee looks forward to working with members over the coming year as the Club continues to develop both on and off the track.
