Blaydon Harriers were out in force this weekend at the Prudhoe Miners Road Races, proudly sporting their club vests and delivering some fantastic performances across all distances.
The event, hosted by Wild Deer Events in partnership with Prudhoe Town Council and Prudhoe Town FC, featured fully closed roads and fast, out-and-back routes through the Low Prudhoe Industrial Estate. With flatter courses introduced last year and chip timing provided by Timing Up North, the event offered great PB potential, perfect timing for those preparing for the Great North Run.
In the 2km junior race, Blaydon’s young athletes made a big impression. Nathan Thompson stormed to 1st place, showing real strength and determination, and Olivia Fraser followed with a brilliant 3rd place, rounding off a fantastic race for our juniors. Their results are a testament to the hard work they’ve been putting in at training, well done both!
In the 5km, Hannah Waterhouse put in a super strong performance, pacing herself brilliantly on the fast course. Over in the 10km, Robert Atkinson and Chris Fletcher both ran impressively, showing great form and focus.
All finishers were rewarded with medals, Wild Deer merchandise, and well-earned refreshments at the finish line. The atmosphere was friendly and supportive, and it was fantastic to see so many Blaydon vests out on the course.
A huge well done to everyone who took part, you’ve done the club proud!
