About the event
The Elswick Harriers Newburn River Run takes place on Wednesday 17 June 2026 and offers a well‑organised midweek road race on a fast, flat 5‑mile out‑and‑back course along the Riverside Park and Wylam Waggon Way. Starting at 7pm, the route is ideal for strong, steady running, with a halfway water station, full marshalled support and a friendly club‑race atmosphere throughout. Race HQ is at Newburn Activity Centre, where runners can collect numbers, make use of changing facilities and enjoy post‑race refreshments and prize presentations after crossing the finish line.
